These ridiculously cute little creatures are American Pikas (Ochotona princeps)

Pikas are herbivorous lagomorphs, which means they’re related to rabbits and hares, and of course, the legendary Pikachu. One look at them should be explanation enough of their inherent awesomeness, but one of our favourite things about them is their penchant for gathering and caching large amounts of vegetation in haypiles to eat during the winter. These little guys do not hibernate so they need to make sure they’ve got food on hand all year round. The internet is brimming with wonderful photos of pikas holding great big mouthfuls of food.
