Environmental artist Tony Plant uses little more than a rake like you might have in your own garden shed to create awesome swirling patterns in the sand on the beaches of England that are only visible until the tide rolls in. This means each beach piece tends to last for little more than a few hours before it gets washed away forever. It’s truly ephemeral art.

Each work is created below the tidal zones where the sand is flatter and wetter, allowing for greater contrast as he quickly drags the rake into various geometric patterns…. Recently Plant’s work was used in a music video by Light Colours Sound for recording artist Ruarri Joseph.
