Japanese designers have come up with two unusual pillows to help people sleep better: the Hizamakura or “Lap Pillow” and the “Boyfriend’s Arm Pillow.”

Japanese manufacturer Trane KK markets the lap pillow to men, stating that “single men find this soothing.”

Mitsuo Takahashi of Trane KK told the BBC,”From the time people were kids, people have laid their heads on their mothers’ laps to get their ears cleaned,” he said. “This is made to be quite close to the real thing.”

Meanwhile a Japanese company called Kameo created the “Boyfriend’s Arm Pillow” for single women.

"We guess all Japanese women really wanted in their salary men was a place to rest their heads. Replace that and you get the natural result: Boyfriend Arm Pillow, the plushie cross sectional chest, 90 degree outstretched arm and puffy-white sausage fingers."

While there is something undeniably creepy about both of these pillows, that weirdness makes them sort of awesome. And, for the record, we’re sure there are men who’d enjoy the arm pillow and ladies who’d contentedly catnap on the lap. Come to think of it, there are probably cats who would nap on the lap too!
