These regal anthropomorphized felines are the work of Tashkent-based Uzbek artist Eldar Zakirov. Eldar’s digitally painted portraits were created for and published in Hermitage Magazine.

"Styling his whimsical renditions like classic oil paintings, there is an unbelievably realistic quality to them that makes the viewer question whether they’re actually looking at accurate depictions of cats dressed in formal uniforms."

We love how their whiskers resemble fancy mustaches. We hope Russia’s Hermitage Museum has a secret wing of awesome paintings like these, representing a fantastic period of Russian history the rest of the world knows nothing about.
