It’s time to meet another awesome species of praying mantis. This one looks like something Alice might’ve encountered in Through the Looking-Glass. Found in Southeast Asia, this astonishing insect is called the Orchid Mantis or Walking Flower Mantis (Hymenopus coronatus) and, as you can see from these two photos, it really does look almost exactly like an orchid flower.

The Orchid Mantis evolved its brilliant colouring and legs shaped like flower petals in order to lure insects already attracted to actual orchids. It can even change its colour from pink to brown according to its surroundings.
