Artist Joe Mangrum travels to cities around the country laden with bags of vibrantly coloured sand which he carefully sprinkles on the ground, one handful at a time, to create awesome ephemeral sand paintings.

"Each work is spontaneous in its design and evolves as Mangrum works, spending upwards of 6-8 hours hunched over the ground to complete each piece. The artist estimates heโ€™s completed nearly 550 paintings over the last few years."
