Oh Japan, you’ve done it once again - gone and created something outrageously cute and edible. In celebration of the Hotel New Hankyu Osaka’s 50th anniversary, the hotel bakery is making adorable Kuro Neko No Te (Black Cat Paw) sandwich pastries that look just like kawaii kitty paws.

The paw-shaped cakes are made of chocolate infused dacquoise dough with a layer of chocolate rice cream between them. The finishing touch is a daub of chocolate on each paw pad. They’re offered in milk chocolate and white chocolate flavors.

Kuro Neko No Te are on sale for the Valentine’s Day and White Day seasons at Blue Jean, a cafe/bakery found on the first floor basement of the Hotel New Hankyu Osaka where they sell for 230 yen (US$2.25) each.

The pastry chefs have done such a great job making these treats look like cat paws that we wouldn’t be surprised if they twitched when placed near a shoelace or piece of string.

November has ended, so let’s all gather round and celebrate the hirsute glory that was Movember 2013 by marveling at the face, neck, and chest of Jonathan Burnside. For his 4th year as a Movember participant, Jonathan grew a splendid handlebar mustache that he eventually connected with his beard and chest hair in order to create the unmistakable shape of a playful cat.
Jonathan describes this year’s effort:

‘I just did a handlebar moustache and then cut half of it off,’ he explained. ‘I made a template to get the basic shape. Then I shaved negative space lines for the details, which did not show up on camera. Then my wife did an outline in eye liner, which also did not show up on camera. Then I just went ahead and outlined it in Sharpie.’

We love how the Einstein tattoo on Jonathan’s left arm appears to be marveling at the fuzzy feline right along with us.
November maybe be over for another year, but Movember lives on in our hearts (and burned onto our retinas) forever.

Belgian design studio Unfold created this fantastically oversized plush cat sculpture as part of a cat-themed art installation entitled Felix Domesticus.

It was one of 5 cat-themed elements of an art installation that the studio assembled in 2010. The 3.5-meter long cat fills an apartment master bedroom. Visitors to the exhibit could sit on it for what Unfold calls “sweet revenge.”

It may be time to consider replacing the conference table here at Geyser of Awesome headquarters. Although there would be a slight risk of dozing off for anyone who happened to sit in a sunny spot, this awesome lounging kitty looks like an amazing place to hold our creativity meetings.

We can’t celebrate the return of Movember without mentioning Hamilton the Hipster Cat and his awesome white mustache (previously featured here). But instead of sharing a photo of Hamilton himself, we wanted to share this extraordinary image of Jeff dressed up as Hamilton during the week of staff costumes leading up to Halloween at the Archie McPhee store. The resemblance is truly uncanny.

Kawaii! Nothing brightens the day quite like a taste of My Neighbor Totoro in real life. Japanese Twitter user @bump_take has just shown the world how easily we can transform our kitties into our own personal Totoros. All it takes is a pair of scissors, a piece of paper, and a patient feline friend.

Kawaii! Japanese marshmallow specialty shop Yawahada has created something awesome for those of us who have been feeling a bit down that we haven’t quite figured out how to turn our own morning coffees into works of caffeinated art.  Yawahada makes adorable kitty cat and kitty cat paw marshmallows that float in your hot beverage of choice, giving you the effect of 3D coffee art without all the effort and as a bonus marshmallow treat.

"Dubbed "Cat Cafe", each one is made by hand one at a time—a time-consuming process. The shop hit on the idea for this particular marshmallow after customers complained that another one of its cat-shaped marshmallows started sinking, head-first. How sad! Thus, the marshmallow wizards at Yawahada created a cat that poked its head out of your steamy drink.

Besides the marshmallow felines, there are also cat paws that come in different flavors, like “milk tea”, “cocoa”, and “green tea latte”, and that were originally designed for hot milk.”

It seems almost impossible to have a bad day if that day starts out with a cup of coffee that looks back up you with a sweet marshmallow face.
