It was around this time last year that Maika, co-editor of the Geyser of Awesome, created her first Cthulhumas tree using a bunch of our Chtulhu tentacles, blue string lights, silver garland, a plush Cthulhu, and just the right amount of eldritch chanting.
Knowing the Great Old Ones would be expecting a tribute at least as nice as last year’s effort, Maika created a second Cthulhumas tree this year, building on the original design with the addition of more lights, three dozen Finger Tentacles, and some Terrified B-Movie Victims.
Don’t leave small pets or children alone around this tree. Those frightened little figures won’t satisfy it for long.
Merry Cthulhumas one and all. May the Elder Gods continue to sleep soundly.

Just in case you were in doubt, here’s a sure sign that Cthulhumas is finally on its way!
Last year Amy Rawson (previously featured here) created wonderful Santa Cthulhu and Mrs. Cthulhu figures. This year Amy and Brian East teamed up again to create this awesome Needle Felted Santa Cthulhu, complete with a fireplace containing a miniature flaming city. Santa Cthulhu is ready to place a slimy eel or fish in your stocking or…. you know, devour your soul:
Yes, he’s back! Brian and I managed to revisit our favorite theme again this year, just in time for the holidays. In 2007, Brian and I made our first needle felted Santa Cthulhu around Christmastime. It was so much fun we had to make another in 2008, and again in 2009. In 2010 I branched away a bit and made an epoxy clay Cthulhu Elf on my lonesome, but it just wasn’t the same. The needle felted ones are much more fun. And it’s always better when Brian and I get to work on a project together!
This is our 4th needle felted Santa Cthulhu. He’s got a fireplace, stockings, a plate of cookies, a dead trout and a live moray eel to leave as stocking stuffers … all needle felted from wool. See the Etsy listing or the page in the Thirdroar gallery for more details, meanwhile I’ll just post a heap of photos here!
Head over to Amy’s Etsy shop to get yourself a one-of-a-kind felted depiction of our favourite cosmic entity taking a break from lurking in R’lyeh to take over Santa’s duties.
